    Smile Amd hd 5570

Hello I upgraded my MAME machine from ATI X1550 PCI-E (worked fine!) to AMD HD 5570.

Problem is that now when I set 15khz and reboot the machine (with 11.4 it shows empty adapter info in the soft-15khz for example for 2nd gfx card spot) the screen is split 2 times in the tube(15khz tube) and Catalyst Control Center complains about not finding the gfx card. (Tried with 10.4 too!) When I went to the monitor settings it showed screen has 100hz ?!

Should I use even older drivers (10.2 i used with X1550 I believe). Anyone got experience with Soft15khz and HD 5xxx/6xxx cards?

    Thanks a lot.

Tried also the DVI port. Gfx card names show fine on 10.4 but soft-15khz still fails with double screen.

Phew. I never tried the newer Radeons. I know for sure that a HD3450 works fine with Cat 11.3.
I'll try to get a hand on a HD5000/HD6000 and take a look.

Okay, I will try 11.3 today, what else should I try. As old as 9.x ?

Tried with as old as 10.2 (oldest one that supports 5570) and no luck, still dual screen It's like the GFX driver breaks from soft-15khz patches :/

    Hi SailorSat,

Any luck with the Radeon HD5000/6000 series cards.

I'm needing a high(ish) end card so I can run the Supermodel emulator.

Have you tried this emulator......if so what card works to give a full 60 FPS

    Thanks for a great program

I am (still) using a HD4550 in my cab. Fast enough even for Model2.
    Running on XP64 and a 2,93GHz Core2Duo.

To be honest I haven't worked on Soft-15kHz in the last few months. I simply can't afford buying new hardware every month.
Also there basically is nothing I can do about it, as Soft-15kHz just sets some registry values and the format doesn't change too often with ATI.
Besides that, Calamitys CRT_EmuDriver (google up groovymame) made Soft-15kHz pretty much useless for ATI based (at least up to HD4000 series).

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Groovemame wont help me at all, as I need to run Supermodel. I can run Model 2 with a Radeon 9600 easily. But supermodel is very very GPU intensive.

So do you think a HD 6770 might work seeing as ATI (now AMD I think) don't change the format very often.

    Thanks again
